Arturia minibrute 2s11/1/2023 The 2's patch bay is cool, but, as I feared, not nearly as fast the knobs of the original. They are cheap-looking, in contrast to the general improvement in the rest of the synth. ![]() I have to say I'm puzzled by the love for the metal wheels though. Instant pissed-off, unnerving sounds that are not as immediate on the 2. It was perfect for my UK-election-rage-EP I did a few days back, for instance. With the original, I could very easily come up with distinctive-sounding music. It's a very nice synth, but it does lack the aggression of the original. Also, with the Behringer D, SE02, and Monologue, there's a lot more competition in the cheap mono market than a few years back. Still, I'm kinda torn as to whether I would get a Microbrute 1, the 2S, or wait for the Microbrute 2 (if it's actually coming). Now with the MB 2S, dropping the problematic keybed is a step in the right direction, and presumably the 2nd oscillator and other new features would increase its range so I'd use it more. Thus I sold it, concluding that if I yearned to get the MB sound back, the Microbrute's size would be more appropriate to its role in my setup. The keybed was also so terrible that I always controlled it via midi-in, yet the keys effectively doubled its size. ![]() Being mono with no patch memory, and relatively narrow sonic range, it was more of a niche tool in my kit. ![]() Personally, I can’t wait for the Microbrute 2, because this is going to be with similar sound and features but more affordable.Yeah, with the Minibrute 1, I felt like it didn't get enough use to justify taking up that much space in my studio.
